National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2017 is being conducted by the Council of Architecture, being the competent & final authority for the purpose of fixing norms and standards for architectural institutions and having the necessary expertise to hold a Common Aptitude Test in Architecture, at national level to provide a single window system for appearing in aptitude test and to facilitate institutions, students and public at large for admission to First year of 5 year B.Arch Degree Course at all recognized Institutions all over country. Important Note regarding NATA 2017
The Council has been conducting National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) for admission to 1st year of 5-year B.Arch degree at various institutions in the country for past several years. About 80,000 students appeared for NATA in 2016.
For the academic session 2017-2018, the Council has decided to conduct NATA 2017 as a one day test (in two parts) all over the country. About 1 lakh students are expected to appear for NATA in 2017. The 3rd Sunday of April (16 Apr 2017) has been identified by the Council as the date of conduct NATA for Admission to Architecture course.
NATA 2017 Registration
NATA 2017 Registration Form will be filled & submitted only through online mode. The registration will begin from the third week of January 2017. Last date for online registration will be the second week of August 2017. No other mode will be entertained for registration. Candidates can keep the printout copy of the filled NATA Application Form 2017 for further reference.
Eligibility Criteria for NATA 2017

- Candidates should have cleared SSC or class 10th or its equivalent test from a recognized board.
- Candidates those are looking for admission to B.Arch course they need to qualify an aptitude test in Architecture and obtain 50% marks in class 12th or its equivalent exam with Mathematics.

NATA Exam Pattern

The test is in two parts. A paper based drawing test and computer based online aesthetic sensitivity test.
The test measures aptitude of the candidate through two sections – a paper based section for drawing and computer based section for aesthetic sensitivity. This is a two hour paper where candidate has to attempt three questions.
Drawing Test
This is a two hour paper where candidate has to attempt three questions. The drawing aptitude is judged on the following aspects –
- Ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in visually appealing manner.
- Visualising and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on surroundings.
- Sense of perspective drawing.
- Combining and composing given three dimensional elements to form a building or structural form.
- Creating interesting two dimensional composition using given shapes and forms.
- Creating visual harmony using colours in given composition.
- Understanding of scale and proportions through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences.
Aesthetic Sensitivity Test
This is computer based test where candidate has to answer 40 multiple choice questions. The aesthetic sensitivity test measures perception, imagination and observation, creativity and communication along with architectural awareness and comprises of –
- Visualizing three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings.
- Visualizing different sides of three dimensional objects.
- Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities.
- Analytical reasoning.
- Mental Ability.
- Imaginative comprehension and expression.
- Architectural awareness
