CAT (COMMON APTITUDE TEST) 2016 - MBA ADMISSION

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test held in India. This test scores a person on the bases of quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal ability and logical reasoning. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) started this exam and use the test for selecting students for their business administration programs. The test is conducted every year by one of the IIM's based on a policy of rotation. In August 2011, it was announced that Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science(IISc) would also use the CAT scores, instead of the Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET), to select students for their management programmes from 2012-14 year.Common Admission Test (CAT) 2015 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad). IIM-Ahmedabad will conduct CAT 2015 on November 29, 2015. IIM Indore was holding Common Admission Test from last two years.
Eligibility
The candidate must be a graduate with 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of SC/ST/DA/PWD) or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the ministry of HRD, Government of India.
Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree / equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. (Candidate if selected needs to submit a certificate latest by 30th June 2016 from the Principal/Registrar of College/Institute stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate.)

How to Apply
Register online at the CAT website with a registration fee of Rs. 1600 (General/NC-OBC) and Rs. 800 (SC/ST/PWD-DA).
Note: Payment of registration fee can be done through online modes only including credit card, debit card or through net banking.
You do not have the option of choosing you preferred slot this time
You must show original mark sheets and submit photocopies to prove your eligibility at the time of interview. Further, if you are selected for a programme, original degree certificate and mark sheets along with your photocopies must be submitted for verification at the time of joining the programme.

Test Duration and Pattern

The CAT 2014 had only two sections. The first section is Quantitativ170 minutes with no sectional time limits.
Three scaled scores will be presented for each candidate: an overall scaled score and two separate scaled scores for each section. As the two sections evaluate distinct sets of knowledge and skills, scores do not correlate across sections. A high score in one section does not guarantee a high score in another section. Percentile rankings are provided for each individual section as well as for the overall exam score.
CAT New Pattern: The CAT 2015 will be divided into three sections:
·         Quantitative Aptitude (QA) having 34 questions
·         Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) with 32 questions
·         Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VRC) with 34 questions
The total duration for the exam is 180 minutes and will be having 100 questions. Candidates will not be allowed to switch between sections, unlike previous year. First time in the history of CAT, applicants will be allowed to use basic on screen calculator for calculation. The tutorial for changed pattern of CAT 2015 Exam will be declared on 15th October, 2015. 

ADMIT CARD:
IIM Ahmedabad has postponed the Admit Card date of CAT 2015 to October 25 from October 15, which was the original date for admit card release. The new date has been announced in an official website of CAT.

CMAT 2016 - MBA ADMISSION EXAM PATTERN AND SYLLABUS

CMAT is a three-hour test. In 2012, it was conducted in a period of nine days (20–28 February) in two shifts at 61 locations in all over India.
The better of two scores will be used for admission for 2014-15
The question paper comprises four sections:
·         Quantitative technique
·         Logical reasoning
·         Language comprehension
·         General Awareness
There are 25 questions in each section. While each correct answer carries four marks, each wrong answer will carry one negative marking.
AICTE has now decided to conduct CMAT in Foreign Countries for facilitating eligible NRIs/PIOs and foreign nationals to appear in CMAT for seeking admission in institutions in India following CMAT merit list for 2014-15 under special provisions defined in AICTE Approval Process and against all vacancies left after completion of centralized admission in management institutions.
Some basic things to remember
ü  Duration of test is 180 minutes (3 hours) .
ü  There shall be negative marking for wrong answers, for each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted .
ü  A Trial test will be available from 12-Dec-2015. onwards for the candidates to have a feel of the online test and navigation functionality. Candidates are advised to go through them carefully to familiarize themselves with the screens, layout, and navigation.
ü  At the test venue, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with a scratch paper for calculations. After the test, candidate must leave the scratch paper at the desk. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the testing room. No breaks will be given during the test.

Language Comprehension: reading comprehension, parajumbled,sentence improvement, English grammar, English usage errors, idioms and phrases, paragraph completion, synonyms and antonyms, one word substitution
Quantative and Data Interpretetion: Number systems,fractions and decimals,geometry,ratios and proportion,paercentage,algebra,partnerships,quadratic and linear equations,time-speed-distance,probabaility,permutations and combinations,tabulation,piechart,barchart,line graph,pipes and cisterns,Mensuration,Alligation and mixtures.
Logical Reasoning Analytical reasoning,statements assumptions,non verbal tests,analogy test,inferences,statements and conclusion,statements arguments,ranking tests,linear arrangements,matrix arrangements,blood relationship test,matrix arrangements,sequencing,coding and decoding problem,number series,direction and distance test.

General Awareness: current affairs,sports news,trade awareness,personalities in news,history,culture,economics,politics,Indian constitution,literature, science in every day life

CMAT 2016 - MBA ADMISSION APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURE

The candidates desirous to apply for CMAT 2016-17 are required to get themselves register online. They must fill-in and submit the CMAT Application Form to appear for CMAT 2016. Also they will be required to pay requisite application fee while registering for the test using available payment modes. The candidates can access the Application Form from the respective link given in the article.
To register for CMAT, the candidates are required to enter as “New User” and fill a self-registration form by entering a few basic details. On submission of this form, a unique 6 digit password will be generated. This password will be sent to the candidates via e-mail and SMS. Thereafter, using this password and ID, the candidates can login to the registration portal for filling the application form and pay application fee. After re-login, the candidates must pay the application fee and fill the application form correctly to complete the CMAT registration process. 

Payment Process

Payment can be done via two modes:
Mode i) PAYMENT: You can select ONLINE PAYMENT mode and then do the payment using Credit card / Debit card / Net Banking
Once your payment is successfully done, you will receive a confirmation E-mail and SMS. Once you have received the successful payment confirmation, you can proceed with the remaining part of registration process
Mode ii) CASH Payment in SBI bank: You can select this option to pay by CASH at any of the designated SBI bank branch. Once you select this option and proceed, you will see a CHALLAN on your screen with your details already filled in it. You need to take 3 PRINT OUTS of this CHALLAN, fill in the details wherever required in all the copies, and walk in to your nearest SBI bank branch with CASH on the next day of generation of Challan. Cash Deposit will be accepted only from the next day of your Challan generation
E.g.If you Generate and Print the Challan copies on 3rd November, 2015, then walk in to the nearest SBI bank branch with Challan copies and CASH from 4th November, 2015 onwards. Similarly if you PRINT the CHALLAN copies on 4th November, 2015, then walk in to the nearest SBI bank branch with Challan copies and CASH from 5th November 2015 onwards
NOTE:The last date to pay CASH in bank is 11th December 2015 and from there onwards to complete registration is 13th December 2015. Submission of final application after payment will not be possible after 13th December, 2015.

Application fee and Mode of remittance

·         The candidates belonging to General category are required to pay Rs. 1400/- + Bank charges as applicable for any test centre chosen in India while the candidates belonging to Reserved categories are required to pay Rs. 700/- + Bank charges as applicable.
·         The fee is non refundable and can be paid either online via Credit Card/Debit Card/Net banking or through cash at any SBI Bank branch in India against the Challan generated online at the time of the registration.
Result and Selection:
The result for CMAT will be announced on 21 January 2016. It will be declared online and will be uploaded on the official website of CMAT. The candidates will be required to login into their respective accounts using “Existing User” link on the official website for checking the result. The result of CMAT will furnish the section-wise score and total score of the candidates. The merit list will be provided to the respective State Governments for allotting the candidates via a central counselling according to their notified admission procedure. In absence of a central counselling, admission will be allotted directly in the AICTE approved Institutes/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges.

CMAT scores can be used for admission in AICTE approved institutions/university departments.The detailed merit list will also be provided to state governments for allotting students through central counselling.

Eligibility Criteria for CMAT 2016 Exam

·         Applicant must be a citizen of India.
·         Graduates in any discipline can apply for CMAT exam.
·         Final year students of Graduate Courses (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for academic year 2016-17 can also apply for CMAT online exam.
·         Graduates with 50% in any discipline for General candidates and 45% for SC/ST candidates
·         Recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 Yrs duration Obtained at least 50% (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) at the qualifying examination.
Test Fee
·         General/OBC: Rs.1400 + Bank charges as applicable
·         SC/ST/PD: Rs.700 + Bank charges as applicable

CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) 2016 - MBA ADMISSION

Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national level entrance examination conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The CMAT is a three hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session to evaluate the candidate’s ability across various segments like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. This test facilitates Institutions to select suitable graduate candidates for admission in all Management programs. The CMAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges. The CMAT 2016 will be conducted on 17th January 2016
·         Applicant must be a citizen of India.
·         Graduates in any discipline can apply for CMAT exam.

CMAT is a computer-based test (CBT). A candidate reads the questions on a computer terminal and chooses an answer by clicking on the correct option.
·         Enter as New User
·         Self registration- Enter details to get an 6 digit password. Re-login to the registration portal as an EXISTING USER with your e-mail id and this unique 6 digit password to complete self-registration.
·         Payment Process – Either online or cash
1.   ONLINE: Select ONLINE PAYMENT mode and then pay using Credit card /     Debit card / Net Banking. On the completion of the payment, a confirmation email and SMS is sent to you.
2.   CASH: Select PAY BY CASH, print the already filled-in challan and deposit the cash in any designated bank branches of State Bank of India. Within 48 hours, a confirmation e-mail and SMS is sent to you stating that the payment data has been updated in the registration portal. After this, proceed with the remaining part of registration process, and enter details filled by the bank authorities on the challan.
